A buyer has paid full-ask for a Georgica estate in East Hampton, designed by the authors of a best-selling interior design book. The classic Hamptons shingle-style home sold for $25 million on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023.
Listing agents Beate V. Moore and Frank E. Newbold at Sotheby’s International Realty represented the seller of 19 Cottage Lane, while Randi Ball of the Corcoran Group brought the buyer, whose identity has not been publically disclosed yet.
“19 Cottage Avenue is one of the finest properties I have represented,” Moore tells Behind The Hedges. “Everyone who had the opportunity to view the home was equally impressed. This transaction was seamless and enjoyable for all parties, and to achieve the full asking price for the best clients, a home run.”
Couple Chris Mitchell and Pilar Guzmán, who wrote, Patina Modern: A Guide to Designing Warm and Timeless Interiors in 2022, developed and designed the home. Mitchell is the former publisher of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, and Guzman is the former editor-in-chief of Condé Nast Traveler and is currently the Editorial Director of Oprah Daily.
In 2021, Mitchell and Guzman sold a historic Bridgehampton estate for $25 million after it underwent a massive renovation and expansion. Moore and Newbold represented them in that deal, as well.
The turnkey home at 19 Cottage Lane has 9,000 square feet of living space over three levels with seven bedrooms and eight and a half baths. It boasts custom solid mahogany windows and doors, quarter-sawn white oak and Belgian stone floors, 10-foot ceilings and five fireplaces.
Massive windows surround the living and dining rooms, while the kitchen features expansive cabinetry and a center island breakfast bar.
Throughout the home, there is a wired integrated Sonos speaker system, WiFi transmitters throughout, Lutron lighting technology, and an All-Tech Security system to ensure the home is up-to-date with all modern technology and safety features.
