Bravo’s Summer House premiered earlier this month bringing the Hamptons summer heat to viewers everywhere.

In the first episode of Season 9, the housemates arrived at their Water Mill summer share, where Lindsay Hubbard confirmed rumors that she was indeed pregnant, just months after fellow housemate Carl Radke called off their wedding.

Nine seasons in, Summer House continues to bring the drama to the Hamptons, much of it taking place in a $5 million home. Viewers are always curious about the location, so here’s the deal:

Located at 2136 Deerfield Road, the 6,500-square-foot residence is in a wooded area between Sag Harbor and Water Mill.

With 8,700 square feet in total, including the fully-finished lower level, the home was fully renovated in 2020 with a new gourmet kitchen and a striking movie theater. The gated, five-acre compound also features a freeform pool and adjacent hot tub, as well as a newly-designed pool house complete with a sun deck and an outdoor bar — and if you’ve ever watched Summer House, you know there is a lot of drinking going on.

Summer House on the Market

According to deed transfer records, the house sold in June of 2021, just before filming began on the sixth season, for $4.6 million. While it was reportedly under contract to be sold again in 2022, property records indicate no trade took place.

The last ask was $4.495 million. Originally, the owners were seeking $5.995 million.

A Compass listing from 2022 notes there is potential for rental income of over $400,000. The home was listed for rent for $250,000 when it came off the market in March of that year, a month before the production company filed for a film permit with the Town of Southampton.

As much square footage as there is, the seven-bedroom, eight-and-a-half-bath house was not quite enough to accommodate all of the cast members.

Just days before filming began in the house for the 2022 summer season, Southampton Town officials realized there were more bedrooms than there were supposed to be.

“The Hamptons: Known for old money, also old laws,” one of the castmates, Kyle Cooke, said during the narration at the opener of that season. “Our house just so happens to be zoned for five bedrooms — not nine.”

The town issued code violations before filming began. The property owner and the production company quickly addressed the issues, reverting rooms back to their original intention. Bedrooms appear to have since been added in the years since.

“I am unaware of any issues with the filming or location last year,” Ryan J. Murphy, the Town Code Compliance & Emergency Management Administrator, told Behind The Hedges this week.

Asked about this coming summer season, Murphy says that no film permit has been filed yet.

Summer House premiered in 2016 when it was filmed inside a 4,500-square-foot beach house on Napeague — though the premise was that it was Montauk. The following year, the Town of East Hampton denied Bravo a film permit since share houses are technically illegal in the town.

Production moved west to Water Mill in Southampton Town. The show shot for a few seasons at 1451 Deerfield Road, a 6,500-square-foot home on a 5.2-acre parcel that is a little closer to Water Mill from this season’s house, before moving to another location nearby.

Bravo’s Summer House season 9 can be seen on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. New episodes will stream the next day on Peacock.

In addition to Hubbard, Cooke and Radke, returning housemates include Paige DeSorbo, Ciara Miller, Gabby Prescod, Jesse Solomon and West Wilson. They are joined by new friends Imrul Hassan and Lexi Wood.
