Dating back to 1799, this renovated waterfront home in Springs sits on 1.5 lush acres at the edge of Accabonc Harbor. Offered for the first time in nearly 50 years, the property was just listed at $1.995 million exclusively with Jennifer Friedberg of Brown Harris Stevens.

Located just minutes to Gerard Beach and the Springs General Store, the property is one many historic homes along Springs Fireplace Road. The area was home to many artists, such as Jackson Pollock, who were attracted “to its untouched country appeal and incredible light filled air,” Friedberg says, and of course still are.

“The street which curves down to the sea is a desired retreat location due to its proximity to town, surrounding Accabonac Harbor and direct access to Gardiner’s Bay.”

The “waterfront oasis,” as Friedberg calls it, includes a 2,000-square-foot house that enjoys water views from nearly ever room. “The front façade has remained intact honing to its original heritage and form,” she says, adding, “Legend has it the waterfront home was originally an oyster shack. The home’s fabled history doesn’t seem implausible as the house sits high above the tide lines with a rolling lawn bordering the scenic Accabonac Harbor.”

While most waterfront homes in the area do not have a usable basement,  but this house, due to its added height, features an additional lower level for storage.

The cedar shingle house was renovated down to the studs and expanded over the years. A wood-burning fireplace is at the center of an open living space, making it the perfect retreat no matter the season. A porch off the kitchen leads to the expansive backyard, where there is room for further expansion and a pool. There is also a sunroom, where the new owner can stare off at the scenic views.

There are now two bedrooms, including a primary bedroom with an ensuite bathroom (The home has a total of two bathrooms). Hardwood floors can also be found throughout.

There is also a detached two-car garage, facing the water, that could be used as an artist’s studio. An outdoor shower is attached to the garage, which also boasts a striking view of the harbor.

Friedberg says, “Waterfronts for sale in the Springs tend to go quickly and 1094 Springs Fireplace Road is no exception with its breathtaking views, ultimate privacy and ideal locale.”

We would agree.
