Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort has been indicted for tax fraud and money laundering. (Trump fired Manafort after his ties to pro-Russian former Ukranian president Yanukovych were revealed.) According to the FBI, Manafort and his associate Paul Gates funneled millions of dollars from Ukraine via wire transfers into United States and foreign corporations, partnerships, and bank accounts. The indictment reads, “In furtherance of the scheme, MANAFORT uses his hidden overseas wealth to enjoy a lavish lifestyle in the United States, without paying taxes on that income.”
Plenty of that wealth was apparently spent in the Hamptons! $5.4 million was sent to a “Home Improvement Company in the Hamptons, New York” while $655,000 was sent to “Landscaper in the Hamptons, New York.” (Anyone know which ones? Email us!) We wish we could say we were shocked by the totals, but we’re not. It’s almost unbelievable to the average middle class person the amount of money that can be spent out here on housing and landscaping.
Manafort’s Water Mill property, off Jobs Lane, includes 2.37 acres of land, which includes a 5500 square foot house, with 10 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. There’s a tennis court, pool, spa, pool house, half court, formal gardens and a putting green. Hey! Installing and maintaining all those features isn’t free!
There are views over farm fields to the north, and the property is near Mecox Bay but not waterfront. We’d suggest a value of about $8 million for the property.
