A Year Later, Montauk Surfside House is ‘Re-envisioned’ and $600K More

re-envisioned

This property, in the Surfside part of Montauk, came to market in September 2016. Set on just under an acre and with expansive ocean views, the asking price was $3.25 million. Back then, we thought the exterior was a little odd and ungainly, but the interiors were light, airy, and spacious. The upper floor contains the main living spaces, including huge sliders to the deck with water views, the kitchen and a den, as well as the master suite, which includes a balcony with outdoor shower, and laundry. The ground floor includes another living area, and three more bedrooms. The kitchen and bathrooms are all newly done. Update: The house did sell in January for $2.98 million.

Now it’s a year later and “the interior and exterior were re-envisioned by Studio Zung; upgrades include a pristine new patio, walkways and expert landscaping, an outdoor shower (pool permit in place, pending approval), and carefully selected, elegant furnishings (offered with the house).” The price for the property, now repped by Matt Burns, Ryan Burns, and Greg Burns at Compass, is $3.85 million. Frankly, for that much, we’d want the pool actually installed. Yes, the interiors are a bit different now but we liked them fine before.

To be fair, the furnishings come with the house, and it all does look extremely nice. The only sticking point we have is the price. For $600K more, we’d expect more. What say you?
