An East Hampton home, owned by interior designer Mark Zeff, whose work has been featured in Architectural Digest, is now listed for $4.75 million.

Cindy Scholz of the Hudson Advisory Team at Compass represents the modern home with minimalist architecture in Northwest Harbor, coined “BLACKBARN” which he created as a meditation oasis and featured in his 2015 book by the same name.

“Our house, which we call BLACKBARN, was designed with a vision to create a comfortable — yet modern — home surrounded by greenery views from every room,” says Zeff of his home at 9 Settlement Court. “We used black as the main color for the exterior of the barn style building to enable the house to blend into the environment elegantly.”

Zeff’s design of Hilary Swank’s Private Colorado World was illuminated on the pages of AD in 2022.

For his own home in The Settlement at Northwest Harbor, “There is casualness in BLACKBARN but also a bit of theater,” according to the description forms 256-page book, which offers an illustrated tour of the home. “The home is equal parts nature and culture, industrial and artful. For all these reasons, BLACKBARN is also the purest expression of Zeff’s creative worldview, embodying a lifetime of travel, influences, ideas, and experiences.”

The 4,799-square-foot residence offers clean exterior lines with warm, textured living spaces.

“The interiors gave me a chance to explore the same philosophy of comfort and modernity intertwined so as to create a balanced aesthetic. In addition, my wife and I had a diverse collection of furniture, lightning, rugs and collectibles from our travels. This house is the perfect vessel to display this collection,” Zeff adds.

In one part of the main living area there are vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, while in another, there is a suspended, modern cone fireplace. A wall of sliding glass doors leads out onto deck overlooking the back yard.

There is also a separate dining room and a TV den.

The two-story house includes a stunning primary suite retreat with a large bathroom with a a vaulted ceiling, a double vanity, a standalone tub and massive walk-in glass shower.

There are four additional en suite bedrooms “with details that emphasize comfort and craftsmanship.”
