The Shoals, a new hotel, has opened in Southold complete with 20 suites and slips for boats to dock, plus The Shoals Food Truck has lots to offer.

Now for sale, The Southold Academy, a recognizable building built in 1867 as a school, is an important part of North Fork history.

The proposed North Fork hotel known as The Enclaves received conditional approval to move forward with development.

Developers billed a proposed 44-room hotel and 74-seat restaurant as a way to create jobs and economic growth during a recent Southold Town Zoning Board of Appeals hearing, while some residents criticized it as out of character with the community.

Elbow East, an iconic North Fork restaurant for the last 33 years, is up for sale, leaving many customers worried the mainstay’s marinated steaks and mashed potatoes will be a thing of the past. However, one of the owners, Billy Berliner, says the establishment may live on, “if I sell it to the right person.”

Tradition and technology mix in the Southold Historical Society’s Colonial Herb Garden, which reopened in July.

The Community Action Southold Town, Inc., a North Fork non-profit, announced plans earlier this week to purchase a former church that already has a history of being used as a community building. 

The 1.3-acre property at 240 Briar Lane went into contract at full ask after just 13 days on the market in October, according to Thomas McCloskey, a broker with Douglas Elliman’s office in Cutchogue. The deal closed on December 21.
