South of the Highway in Bridgehampton and Less Than $1.7 Million? Yes!

Friends of ours have been looking for years for a property like this: “affordable” (for the Hamptons), south of the highway, not too small, and in decent condition. Properties like these always seem to sell quickly, so we’re going to advise them to take a look soon.

Check it out: this is a 1930s American Foursquare with plenty of charm intact (fireplace in living room, original fir floors, dormers, attic, screened porch). Listed by Susan L. Ratcliffe at Brown Harris Stevens, the house needs a new kitchen and the bathrooms aren’t pictured, so they probably could use updating as well, although we’re suckers for the charm of old bathrooms. There’s 1823 square feet of space with three bedrooms and two baths, plus that finished attic. Set on a half acre of land, there’s plenty of room for a pool out back; plus the property is within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the jitney. There’s even a two car garage.
