A Magical Oasis on Meeting House Lane in Amagansett

oasis

No, we’re not being dramatic with “magical oasis”: check out those gardens! This one-acre double plot offers the most lovely plantings we’ve seen in a while, such that we wonder how the homeowner can bear to leave.

Next to the 60′ gunite lap pool is a pond with water lilies, along with a patio to drink in the views after swimming. On one parcel of 0.46-acre is the original 1925 cottage, updated with taste and style. It is, however, comparatively small at 2250 square feet, with only three bedrooms and four baths.

Not to worry, however, as the second 0.54-acre parcel has an expanse of cleared grass where a substantial guest cottage could be built. Asking price for the property, repped by Cindy Shea at Sotheby’s, is an aspirational $8 million. If the main house were bigger, we wouldn’t have any problem with that asking price, but as it is, we think it’s a reach. But who knows, maybe someone with deep pockets and good taste will come along and have to have the place.
